PLANNING STAGE (SCOPE): DEFINE SCOPE

This is a third process of planning your Scope, after preparing a scope management plan and requirements management plan which also helped you to collect the requirements from the stakeholders.

It is the process of developing project scope statement that contains the following contents:
  • the description the project scope (characteristics of the product, service or result),
  • acceptance criteria (conditions to be met before accepting the deliverable),
  • project exclusion (what is not included in the project),
  • assumptions (any factor that is considered to be certain without proof) and
  • constraints (limitations that may affect the execution of the project).

To achieve this process, you can use the experts, do brainstorming and analysis as well as facilitate workshops with stakeholders to finalize a project scope statement. Note that with this process, other documents will be updated such as stakeholder register and requirements document.
